Textures – The variety of textures may be important to give visual interest to the eye. Some ideas for visual textures may be baskets, lace, nubby silk fabric, plastic for a smooth texture, satin for a shiny texture and so forth. Be creative and out of the box to create these textures. Throw pillows can have pearls or beads and such to again add visual interest. Texture on the wall or subtle tone on tone paint designs on the walls or furniture are ways to add visual texture. What ideas have you had?
Color and design could bring yet an additional dimension to ones own chair molding. Chair molding is frequently painted white against a contrasting background, or are colored a light shade against a white or ecru colored background. In some examples, though, a deep, bold color can easily spark up the individuality of a room. Likewise a selection of a subtle, pale tint, tone or shade of the primary color of the wall may produce a beautiful impression when the same color is picked up by accents in the room. Thus a medium blue wall might have a smooth, soft gray-blue chair rail, with corresponding gray-blue cushions on the sofa and runners on the incidental table.
