As I reflected on this pastor’s statement, a couple of thoughts came to my mind. One is that his statement was a very personal one that indicated a preference that was important to him and was a value I needed to honor. An additional thought though was about what actually makes a chair a ”church chair”. Here is an expansion on those thoughts with three observations as to what really is needed for a chair to be labeled a ”church chair”.
Park Commissioner Clausen tried to defend his actions by telling the press that there were always plenty of free benches for people to sit on, except, of course, on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The New York Tribune pointed out that those were the days with the biggest demand for seats in the parks. As this issue became monumental, Spate became more resolute. He ordered more chairs be placed in Central Park, and also in Madison Square Park, which was across the street from his office. Some people paid to sit, and those that didn’t, were unceremoniously thrown out of the chairs by Spate’s thugs in gray suits.
Suddenly, two broad-shouldered men approached the rocking-chair sitters. They wore identical gray suits and they carried black satchels with straps over their shoulders. The men in gray told the sitters that these were private chairs for rent, and that if they wanted to continue sitting they had to fork over five cents a day for the better seats, and three cents a day for seats that were not in as preferential a position in the park. Some people vacated their seats, but others paid. People who did neither were physically ejected from the seats. When they asked why, the men in gray said, ”Them’s Mr. Spate’s chairs.”
The children’s moon chair is exactly what its name implies: a chair for a child. They are smaller chairs than those for adults and are often less expensive than larger chairs since they do not require as much material to make. The childrens chair comes in a variety of colors, especially basic childrens colors like red, green, blue and so on. They can also come in neon colors and with your childs favorite cartoon character printed on the seat. They make great, simple additions to any childrens bedroom and serve as less expensive ways to add charm and decoration to your childs room. Plus, any child will love his or her childrens chair since they are quite comfortable and a great place to sit while reading, coloring or playing video games.
Aluminum Folding Chairs, If you are on a budget, aluminum chairs are the best all-around solution to your seating needs. Light in weight, these chairs are stylish and can be manufactured in a wide range of colors to meet your requirements. It must be remembered however that the light weight feel to the folding aluminum chairs will indeed be reflected in the durability of the product. If you intend to regularly use the chairs, then you may consider using a tougher metal such as steel that is sturdier and will support more weight.
